Alyssa Milano encouraged spreading the phrase as part of an awareness campaign to show the scale and ubiquity of the problem, tweeting: “If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote ‘Me too.’ as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem.“ –source by Wikipedia
While many people shared their stories on their respective social media handle, many of my female friends came up with their story on their respective Facebook page too. It showed and actually depicted how Harsh the world is. And how Women, girls or sometimes even men are being ill-treated. Many gave #meToo, space in their social media and some remained quite. Its not that, they haven’t suffered. But may be they don’t want to remember those days again.
Not from today, but from many decades, the fight of “safe place” has been fought by many women. Not only in India but also all around the World. But still Women are struggling. And the fight is not only outside of the four walls of the house, but also inside of the house too.
Sometimes, women are scared, sometimes they just want to let go so that nobody comes around the fact, and sometimes they speak up. On the land of Durga Ma and Kali Ma, still women are facing such brutal facings of their life. And I bet, there would be no woman around, who haven’t faced such issue in their life.
Still, the positive impact or the actions which needed to be taken are questioned for. Whether we count the Anti Romeo Squad act of the newly created Government in one state, or any other act which had been created by the Law of India, Still Women are facing such big problems. But in actual terms, whether they have created a safer place for Women? And the answer is very well-known. To you and to me.
If I refer again the red highlighted part of the above text: “If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote ‘Me too.’ as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem.“. The word is “Magnitude”. And actually if you google this phrase: #meToo, you will actually get the real statistics of how many people used this hashtag on their social media. Whether it was twitter or Facebook or any other source of sharing. Now, we have given the “Magnitude”. The actual statistics have been given. Now let us see, what shall be the positive impact of this Data.
Whether someone would actually work on it, and may make place safer for the Women? or Let it be, like it was any other “Trending” thing on social media, and then it became a history.
P.S: What I believe, that it should be mandatory to learn Defence and some kind of martial arts by each and every girl or woman. And men too. It gives them the courage, and faith to fight from such brutal situations with more Power.
